Marley & Me by John Grogan
I have been meaning to read this book for quite a long time. It is the story of a husband and a wife that decide they will get a Labrador puppy. As we are about to get a Labrador puppy ourselves at home I thought now would be a good time to read it.
This poor couple have no idea what has hit them when they get Marley (named after Bob) home. Marley would have just as well been named destroyer. He grows to a massive 44 kilos of muscle and is pretty much uncontrollable, yet lovable. He is extremely scared of thunderstorms and will do anything to escape them.
Through the story the couple have children and Marley is extremely gentle with them. They make one big happy family.
It is a lovely story about the way an animal can become part of your family.
After reading the book I was a little scared about just how crazy Labradors can possibly be and it made me a little apprehensive about our new coming addition, but also looking forward to how much love she will give us and we will give her.
Finally, I would say read the book and don’t bother with the movie. The book is so much better!
